Section 718 in Police Regulations, Bengal , 1943

718. Papers of convicts to be shown to the Magistrate of halting places. [§ 12, Act V, 1861].

- The descriptive rolls, warrants, and all other papers of convicts to be escorted shall be shown to the Magistrate of the several halting places. In the case of convicts sentenced to transportation, in addition to the original warrant, a statement of previous character to be prepared by the Magistrate, and a descriptive roll in Bengali and English shall be made over to the officer-in-charge of the guard, and by him delivered to the Superintendent of the Jail, to which the convict may be transferred, who shall give a receipt for these papers.
