Section 230(1) in Tamil Nadu District Municipalities Act, 1920
(1)The council may, by public notice, prohibit the washing of clothes by washermen in the exercise of their calling, either within the municipality or outside the municipality within three miles of the boundary thereof, except at-(a)public wash-houses or places maintained or provided under section 229, or(b)such other places as it may appoint for the purpose.
