Section 27(2) in The West Bengal Panchayat Act, 1957
(2)The term of office of the Pradhan and the Upa-Pradhan of the Anchal Panchayat shall be the residue of his term of office as a member of the Anchal Panchayat :Provided that an elected Pradhan or Upa-Pradhan shall continue in office until a new Pradhan or Upa-Pradhan is elected by the newly constituted Anchal Panchayat after a general election.
