ORDER
% 23.11.2021 Ms.Sheyal Trehan, learned counsel for the Intervener/NCCCL has handed over a copy of the information obtained under Right to Information Act from the Delhi Builidng and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board vide reply dated 22nd October, 2021.
In the said reply, it has been stated that the total number of workers to whom Covid 19 (2020 relief) is yet to be disbursed is 28,200 and 54250 Signature Not Verified Digitally Signed By:JASWANT SINGH RAWAT Signing Date:25.11.2021 18:13:12 applications have been marked as lapsed cases as on 17th October, 2021. It is also stated in the said RTI reply that 11819 applications are pending verification. The number of Registering authorities in terms of Secion 12(2) of Delhi Building and Other Construction Workers Regulation of Employees and Service Act, 1996 are mentioned as 9.
It is strange that the aforesaid figures and shortcomings have been pointed out by the intervener and not by Delhi Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.
This Court expects the Delhi Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board to be more proactive.
This Court has requested Mr.Gautam Narayan, Standing Counsel for GNCTD to examine the matter and speak to the authorities concerned.
Mr.Gautam Narayan, prays for some time to revert with instructions. List on 28th February, 2022.
