Section 180(1) in The Coal Mines Regulations, 2011
(1)Subject to the provisions of Indian Electricity Rules, 1956 relating to the use of electric energy in parts of mines in which inflammable gas is likely to occur in quantity sufficient to be indicative of danger, electric lighting from a source of supply external to the lighting unit may be used -(a)on any roadway or place ventilated by intake air; and(b)on any other roadway or place not within 270 metres of the nearest face.
