SHRI PRATYUSHA RAJESHWARI SINGH (KANDHAMAL): I wish to draw kind attention of the Government regarding the construction of multipurpose check dams on Pilla Salki river of Kandhamal Constituency in Odisha. This project will provide pure drinking water to more than lakhs of people of five gram panchayats of Khajuripada Block and thirteen Wards of Phulbani Municipality in Kandhamal district of Odisha. In view of the importance of project, I request to construct 200 multipurpose check dams for conservation of water for irrigation, drinking water, mini hydro-power generation and other purposes for the development of Kandhamal district. Besides these two hundred dams, three check dams over Pilla Salki river at Phulbani and construction of a canal linking Salki river at Phulbani will solve the problems of drinking water, irrigation and other purposes. I shall, therefore, be grateful if this is considered in public interest.
