                        ORDER

1. M/s. Aavin, who ought to have filed its report today, has not yet done so.

2. Today, Mr. Jayakumar - Deputy General Manager, Ambattur Dairy Unit has appeared before us.

3. It is disappointing to note that M/s. Aavin has not so far done any study regarding migration from sachets to plastic bottles or any other substitute that is biodegradable/recyclable/reusable for the supply of milk to consumers.

4. Let the M/s. Aavin revert to us, after a detailed study in this regard being done, including the cost effect and the cost of supply of the milk to consumers.

5. This apart, it is noticed that the TNPCB also has issued a show cause notice demanding environmental compensation for increasing the production of milk from 3 Lakh Liters per day, for which, already there is consent, to 4.5 Lakh Liters per day, for which, there is no consent.

6. Already, we have recorded that such an increase in production would result in an increase in effluents which would require more number of ETPs for treatment.
