SHRI RAHUL SHEWALE (MUMBAI SOUTH CENTRAL): Hon. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I would like to thank you for allowing me to speak on an important issue of construction of the International Monument of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the Arabian Sea at Mumbai for which the approval of the Central Government has not been released by the Union Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change so far.
Sir, in this connection, I would like to submit that the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority has submitted the proposal through their letter dated 5th February, 2014 along with the minutes of the 88th meeting with the Ministry of Environment and Forests to consider a special dispensation under CRZ Notification, 2011 for the proposal of installation of the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the Arabin Sea at Mumbai as permissible activity.
Through you, Sir, I would request the hon. Minister of Environment and Forests to look into the matter and consider a special dispensation under CRZ Notification, 2011 for the proposal of installation of the proposed statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the Arabian Sea at Mumbai. The powers may be delegated to the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority under CRZ Notification, 2011 to recommend this project from CRZ point of view to project proponent/planning authority at the State level.
