21. Procedure on receipt of reference under section 17.
- On receipt of a reference under section 17 the Court shall proceed, as far as may be practicable, in accordance with sections 19 to 23 (inclusive), and sections 26 to 36 (inclusive), of the Land Acquisition Act, 1870 :Provided that instead of the last clause of the said section 26, the following shall be read :- "The provisions of this section and of section 11 of the Bengal Irrigation Act, 1876, shall be read to every assessor in a language which he understands, before he gives his opinion as to the amount of compensation to be awarded.".
