Section 5(gg) in The Maharashtra University of Health Sciences Act, 1998
(gg)to institute and award degrees, diplomas, certificates and other academic distinctions for persons who shall have pursued approved courses of study in a University, college or an affiliated college unless exempted therefrom in the manner prescribed and shall have passed the prescribed examinations of the University or shall have carried on research satisfactorily under conditions as may be prescribed;
