Section 1275 in Police Regulations, Bengal , 1943

1275. Protection of buildings from fire.

- As one of the measures for the protection of buildings from fire the head of the office occupying the building or, in the case of police-stations and outposts, the officer-in-charge, should appoint a responsible officer to see that the tanks and buckets are kept in good order and full of water and that they are periodically emptied and refilled, that chemical extinguishers are in working order and that there are sufficient refills in stock and that their uses are understood by the menials and others employed on the premises. The officer responsible should instruct his subordinates as to what they should do on the outbreak of a fire. The practice of keeping buckets chained up by a padlock should be avoided.
