The case has been put up before me after conclusion of mediation proceedings. The report of the Mediator indicates that the petitioners are residents of the same village and therefore, the private respondents can't vouch for their safety as according to the tradition, a boy and girl belonging to the same village cannot get married.
It is not disputed that the petitioners are both major and are not within the prohibited degrees of relationship. Thus, the petition is disposed of with directions to respondent No.2 to consider the representation dated 15.3.2019 (P5) and any other inputs that may be available to him and to grant protection to the petitioners as and when he is approached by them.
