Prayer: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India,
praying to issue a Writ of Mandamus to direct the respondents herein to
regularly absorb the petitioners herein as Multi Purpose Workers / Multi
Tasking Staff Grade-I for SSLC Qualified and Multi Purpose Workers/Multi
Tasking Staff Grade-II for those who have passed VIII Standard and fix
them the appropriate regular time scale of pay in the said posts with effect
from the respective dates of their initial appointment and to grant all
consequential benefits to them within a limited time frame.

ORDER
Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader for the respondents who appeared through video conference and perused the material records.

The petitioners numbering to 13 have filed the present writ petition seeking a direction to the respondents herein to regularise their services by observing them as multi purpose workers / multi task staff - Grade I, SSLC qualified and multi purpose workers / multi task staff Grade II, for those who have passed 8th standard and fix them appropriate regular time scale of 2/6 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis ( Uploaded on: 11/09/2025 11:46:02 am ) W.P.No.24374 of 2019 pay in the said post w.e.f. the respective date of their initial appointment and to grant all consequential benefits.
3. Though, the learned counsel for the petitioners had sought time to get instructions from the petitioners in this matter, the learned counsel appearing on behalf of the respondents through video conference submits that the service of the petitioners herein were regularised by the respondents on 06.03.2023, and as such their grievance in the present writ petition stands redressed.
4. Since, it is now informed to this Court that the respondents having regularised the services of the petitioners on 06.03.2023 and even though more than two years have passed since then, as the petitioners did not choose to provide instructions to their counsel, this Court is of the view for the said reasons, this writ petition cannot be kept pending, moreso, as the petitioners did not chose to approach their counsel to inform of their service being regularised by the respondents.

Since, on behalf of the respondents, it has been categorically asserted before this Court that the service of the petitioners have been regularised on 06.03.2023 by the second respondent vide Memorandum No.12956/IGMC&RI/Estt./A4/MPW/2023/710, this Court is of the view that placing the aforesaid statement made by the learned counsel for the respondent on record the present writ petition can be closed, as the grievance of the petitioners has been duly redressed by the aforesaid action of the respondents.
6. However, it is made clear that in the event of the aforesaid statement made to this Court by the learned standing counsel for the respondents is found to be incorrect, the petitioners are at liberty to seek revival of the writ petition. Subject to the above liberty, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs. Consequently, connected MP.No.24107 of 2019 is ordered and the MP.No.24108 of 2019 is closed.
