THE MINISTER OF STATE OF THE MINISTRY OF CULTURE, MINISTER OF STATE OF THE MINISTRY OF TOURISM AND MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF CIVIL AVIATION (DR. MAHESH SHARMA): I beg to lay on the Table a Statement correcting the reply to Unstarred Question No. 2749 given on 28 July, 2014 asked by SHRI HANSRAJ GANGARAM AHIR, MP (Now the Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers) regarding ‘Security Lapses at Airports’.
STATEMENT CORRECTING THE REPLY GIVEN TO PART (A) OF THE LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 2749 ASKED BY SHRI HANSRAJ GANGARAM AHIR, HON'BLE MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT, REGARDING SECURITY LAPSES AT AIRPORTS WHICH WAS ANSWERED ON 28.07.2014 MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF CIVIL AVIATION (DR. MAHESH SHARMA): Madam, I would like to make a statement to correct an inaccuracy noticed in the reply given to part (a) of the Lok Sabha Unstarred Question No. 2749 answered by the Ministry of Civil Aviation on the 28th July, 2014 regarding 'Security Lapses at Airports'.
In part (a) of the aforesaid question, information was sought regarding the number of cases of security lapses reported at various airports by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) during the last three years and the current year. The reply given to part (a) of the aforesaid question contained a factual error in the number of security lapses reported in the Mumbai region during the years 2011 and 2012. The factual position in this regard is that five security lapses each were reported in the Mumbai region during 2011 and 2012 as against six and four cases mentioned in the case of Mumbai region for the years 2011 and 2012, respectively. This inadvertent error has necessitated this correcting statement. Accordingly, a copy of the revised reply after incorporating necessary corrections in the Annexure referred to in the reply to Part (a) of Parliament Question No. 2749 dated 28.07.2014 is enclosed.
The error is regretted.
