Section 3(1) in The Maharashtra Land Revenue (Disposal of Government Trees, Produce of Trees, Grazing and other Natural Products) Rules, 1969
(1)Where any trees belonging to the State Government are sold under Section 26, the sale shall be by public auction or otherwise as the Collector may, in consultation with the Conservator of Forest, direct.
