A juvenile delinquent should not be remanded to the custody of the police or to jail unless no other action is practicable. The attention of the Courts is invited to the provisions of Section 24 of the Central Provinces Children Act, 1928 (C.P. X of 1928), and to the proviso to sub-section (1) of Section 497 of the Code. This rule covers remands under Section 344 of the Code as well as under Section 167 of the Code.
