(1)When a Mayor, -(a)resigns his office under section 26; or(b)is removed from his office by a motion of no-confidence under section 27; or(c)is removed from his office by Government under section 29,a fresh election shall be held to fill up the vacancy within a period of fifteen days from the date of occurrence of the vacancy and the Mayor so elected, shall hold office only so long as the Mayor in whose place he is elected, would have held, had the vacancy not occurred :Provided that if the vacancy so caused is a vacancy in the office of the Mayor reserved for the Scheduled Castes or Backward Classes of or Women under section 59, the person to fill the vacancy shall belong to the Scheduled Castes or Backward Classes or shall be a woman, as the case may be.
