Section 39(a) in Police Regulations, Bengal , 1943
(a)The Additional Superintendent is in subordinate alliance with the Superintendent and holds a position similar to that of a second in command of a regiment. The two officers shall work in constant co-operation and keep each other informed of all matters of importance in the administration of the district, when one of them is absent from headquarters the other shall do his current work.
