Section 236(2) in Cantonments Act, 1924

(2)No prosecution for an offence under this section shall be instituted except on the complaint of the person importuned, or of a military officer in whose presence the offence was committed, or of a member of the Military or Air Force Police, being employed in the cantonment and authorised in this behalf by the [Officer Commanding the station] [Substituted by Act 7 of 1925, s.14, for "Commanding Officer of the Cantonment"], in whose presence the offence was committed, or of a police officer not below the rank of a sub-inspector [with the concurrence of the District Magistrate] [Inserted by Act 7 of 1931, s.7.].
