15. Amendment of Section 18.
- In Section 18 of the said Code, for sub-section (2), the following sub-sections shall be substituted and inserted, namely -"(2) If the officer or other person aforesaid does not comply as directed, the Collector shall impose a penalty of two hundred and fifty rupees each day till the direction is complied with, so however, total amount of such penalty shall not exceed twenty-five thousand rupees:Provided that the officer or other person, as the case may be, shall be given a reasonable opportunity of hearing before any penalty is imposed on him.(3)Imposition of penalty under sub-section (2) shall not bar the prosecution for any offence or recovery of money, papers and other government property under any law for the time being in force".
