Section 22(1) in The Manipur Municipalities Act,1994.
(1)Every municipality, unless sooner dissolved under this Act, shall continue for five years from the date appointed for its first meeting after a general election at which a quorum is present and no longer:Provided that a municipality which is functioning immediately before the commencement of this Act shall continue till the expiration of its duration, unless sooner dissolved by a resolution passed to that effect by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Manipur.
