Killing Of Tamils By Sri Lankan Army. on 21 October, 2008

> Title: Killing of Tamils by Sri Lankan Army.

SHRI A. KRISHNASWAMY (SRIPERUMBUDUR): Sir, I would request you to permit me to speak from here.

MR. CHAIRMAN  : Yes.

SHRI A. KRISHNASWAMY : Sir, I would like to draw the attention of the Government that lakhs and lakhs of Sri Lankan Tamil people have been continuously killed by the Sri Lankan Army. I urge upon the Central Government to intervene immediately and provide them with proper food, clothes and shelter. The military forces of Sri Lankan Army have been disturbing the Tamil people and through the military forces they have been forced to leave their houses, property and are leaving all their relatives and they are scattered and they are now living without proper shelter and are living in the open spaces. Lakhs and lakhs of such people are there.

Continuously the Tamil people have been fighting for the justice, for their rights. Today, the Sri Lankan Army, in the name of attacking the LTTE, is attacking the Sri Lankan Tamils. The Tamil people there are also part and parcel of Indians who have migrated there a century ago.

Sir, here we raise our voice if any Hindus are attacked in Malaysia and we raise our voice if any Muslim is attacked in the neighbouring countries and we raise our voice if any Christian is attacked anywhere else. But when the Tamil people, the people of Indian origin, are attacked in our neighbouring country, none of them has raised the voice. We, the Tamil people, strongly urge upon the Government to intervene immediately and to withdraw the Sri Lankan Army by having a discussion with the President of Sri Lanka.

The Tamil people are unitedly fighting for this cause. We had an all-Party meeting and we have convened to form on 24th a very big human chain of about 100 kilometres under the leadership of Dr. Kalaignar Karunanidhiji and other leaders of alliance parties. I urge upon the Central Government to intervene immediately with the Sri Lankan Government and do justice for the Tamil people. Thank you. … (Interruptions)
