Section 1 in The Delhi Tenants (Temporary Protection) Act, 1956
1. Short title, extent, commencement and duration.-
(1)This Act may be called the Delhi Tenants (Temporary Protection) Act, 1956.(2)It extends to the areas in the Union territory of Delhi to which the Rent Control Act extends for the time being: Provided that nothing in this Act shall be deemed to extend to any area declared to be a slum area under any law for the time being in force.(3)It shall come into force on such date1 as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.
