Section 20(1) in The West Bengal Private Forests Act, 1948.
(1)A Forest Settlement-officer shall be appointed by the [State] [Word substituted for the word 'Provincial' by the Adaptation of Laws Order, 1950.] Government in respect of every forest of which the control is vested in a Regional Forest-officer by a notification under sub-section (2) of section 6 or under section 7 or under section 11, and may be appointed in respect of any controlled forest on the application made in this behalf to the [State] [Word substituted for the word 'Provincial' by the Adaptation of Laws Order, 1950.] Government by its owner.
