Seventeenth Loksabha p> Title: Need to include Gor-boli langauge in Eighth Schedule of the Constitution of India.
DR. UMESH G. JADAV (GULBARGA): Mr. Chairman, Sir, I thank you for allowing me to speak during ‘Zero Hour’.
Sir, at present, people from different parts of the country are demanding to include 38 languages in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution of India. Among them, Tulu and Gor-boli are also in that list. Gor-boli language is the heart and soul of the Banjara community which has got about 8 to 10 crore population in India. Since this language has got no script, there is a threat of extinction of this language which is kept alive by folk songs and other cultural activities. To protect, promote, and develop this language, I sincerely request the hon. Home Minister, through you, to include Gor-boli language in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution of India. The Banjara community, which is called as Lambadi also, has got common eating habits, dress code, and culture throughout India and also in the whole world. This is a long pending demand of the Banjara community since Independence. So, I would request the Government to include this language in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution of India.
माननीय सभापति : आपको पुन: जन्म दिन की बहुत-बहुत शुभकामनाएँ ।
DR. UMESH G. JADAV : Thank you, Sir.
