Section 30(2) in The Merchant Shipping (Fire Appliances) Rules, 1969
(2)Every such ship shall be provided with--(i)one pump and one fire hose whereby a powerful jet of water can be directed into any part of the ship;(ii)at least three fire buckets;(iii)a fireman's axe :Provided that in open ships fitted with internal combustion propelling machinery, two fire buckets with lanyard attached may be substituted for a pump and a fire hose and such fire buckets shall be in addition to the fire buckets referred to in Cl. (ii).
