Section 12(1) in Tamil Nadu Pawnbrokers Rules, 1943
(1)The auctioneer to whom the sale of a pledge by public action is entrusted shall be a person approved by the Commissioner of Police in the city of [Chennai] [Substituted for the word 'Madras' by section 3 of the City of Madras (Alteration of Name) Act, 1996 (Tamil Nadu Act 28 of 1996).] and the Additional District Magistrate elsewhere.
