3. Issue notice. Mr. Mehra accepts notice.

4. The petitioner has preferred the present writ petition to seek a writ of Habeas Corpus for production of his daughter Neelanchal Gupta, aged 22 years, who went missing on 25.11.2020. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that there is a typographical error that she went missing on 10.11.2020.

5. The case of the petitioner is that the suspect is one Salim Raja @ Sahil Malhotra. The petitioner claims that Salim Raja contacted his daughter through 'Facebook' by falsely projecting himself to be Sahil Malhotra. He also falsely claimed that he is a builder and exporter/ importer, whereas he is unemployed. In this regard, complaint has been made as early as on 08.09.2020 - Annexure P-1 to the petition.

6. On service of advance notice, status report has been filed. The same has been perused. It appears that the police has taken steps for investigation in the case. However, crucially, the dates - on which the steps have been taken, have not been indicated.

7. We direct the police to take further and better investigation in the matter to locate Neelanchal Gupta and for her production before this Court. The further investigation shall be conducted under the supervision of the DCP concerned. The further status report should clearly indicate the dates on which the steps have been taken thus far.

8. List on 13.01.2021.
