3. Declaration of Guwahati Metropolitan Area.
(1)The State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, declare the area covered by the Guwahati Municipal Corporation Area and any other areas contiguous to the Guwahati Municipal Corporation Area, to be the Guwahati Metropolitan Area for the purposes of this Act.(2)The State Government may, if it thinks fit, by notification in the Official Gazette, enlarge, curtail or modify the Guwahati Metropolitan Area or any part thereof.(3)Every such notification shall define the limits of the area to which it relates.
