6. Competent authority.
(1)The Government may, by notification, appoint any officer not below the rank of District Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Officer to be the competent authority for the purposes of carrying out the provisions of this Act and the rules made thereunder and different competent authorities may be appointed for different areas.(2)The competent authority shall exercise such powers and perform such functions as may be prescribed.
