Section 289(17) in The Naval Ceremonial, Conditions Of Service And Miscellaneous Regulations, 1964
(17)Preliminary Course-Candidates selected by the Chief of the Naval Staff for further training shall be [transferred] [Substitued by S.R.O. 361, dated 10th November, 1975] to Indian Naval Ship VENDURUTHY where they shall undergo a preliminary course of 4 weeks duration.The purpose of the Preliminary Course is to develop the personality, officer-like qualities and general abilities of the sailors. On completion of this course, candidates shall be required to appear before a Service Selection Board. On conclusion of the Services Selection Board, candidates shall be required to appear before the Final Selection Board.
