Statement by accused when defended by counsel or officer .-Notwithstanding the fact that he is represented at the trial by a counsel or an officer subject to [* * *] air force law, an accused may, if he thinks fit, make a statement as provided in sub-rule (3) of rule 62 and sub-rule (2) of rule 66 giving his own account of the subject of the charges against him.
