Section 1062(a) in Police Regulations, Bengal , 1943
(a)The rules for rewarding chaukidars will be found in the Chaukidari Manual. Police officers of all ranks shall bear in mind that without judicious rewards it is impossible to expect chaukidars to take interest in their work, or to give proper assistance to station officers. Rewards to be effective must not only be given with discrimination, but with the utmost promptitude.
