Decision Notice
The Commission directs the PIO to provide the CD containing names of candidates who had
appeared for the NET examination to the Appellant. The PIO, UGC to also inform the Appellant
in writing about the reasons for non availability of the telephone numbers and the addresses while
giving reasons for the same.

ORDER
Background
1. The Applicant filed an RTI application dt.20.1.10 with the PIO, UGC seeking the list of candidates with their names, residential addresses, telephone nos. who had applied for NET examinations (CentreDelhi) held in June 2009 and December 2009 with regard to English, Hindi, Mathematics, Geography, Political Science, History, Sanskrit, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Electronics, Computer Science, Commerce, Economics, Education, Management. Shri J.L.Pahwa, PIO replied on 12.2.10 stating that information is being collected and will be provided in due course. On not receiving any further reply, the Applicant filed an appeal dt.15.4.10 with the Appellate Authority. On still not receiving any response, he filed a second appeal dt.18.5.10 before CIC. Decision
2. During the hearing, the Respondents submitted that the information sought is being maintained only at the different Centres and in the instant case , in Jamia Milia Islamia , as the registration takes place only at the Centres. JMI was informed verbally to provide the information and they had provided the same in a CD which contains only the names of the candidates who had appeared for the examination as the telephone Nos and the addresses are not entered in the computer and hence not maintained.
3. The Commission accordingly directs the PIO to provide the CD to the Appellant by 5.2.11 the Appellant to submit a compliance report to the Commission by 10.2.11. The PIO, UGC to also inform the Appellant in writing about the reasons for non availability of the telephone numbers and the addresses while giving reasons for the same.
4. The appeal is disposed of with the above directions.
