Section 274(1) in Gauhati Municipal Corporation Act, 1971
(1)Whenever it appears to the Commissioner that any factory, workshop or work place or a building or place in which steam, water or other mechanical power is employed, is not kept in a clean state or is not ventilated in such a manner as to render harmless as far as practicable, any gas, vapour, soot or other impurity generated in the course of the work carried on therein as to be dangerous or injurious to the health of the person employed or that any machinery therein is so fixed or so insecurely fenced as to be dangerous to life or limb, the Commissioner may by written notice require the owner thereof to take such order therewith as he shall think fit.
