Need To Set Up A Silk Park In Arani Parliamentary Constituency. on 31 July, 2014
Sixteenth Loksabha > Title : Need to set up a silk park in Arani Parliamentary Constituency.
SHRI V. ELUMALAI (ARANI): Madam Speaker, I wish to draw the attention of the Union Minister of Commerce and Industry to set up a Silk Park in Arani. This is a long pending and much awaited project for the people of my constituency.
Arani is popularly called the city of silk saris, next to Kanchipuram. It has more than 60,000 population, out of which 35,000 people are into the weaving profession. The very first National Flag of our country hoisted at the Red Fort on the Independence Day was a silk flag which was weaved in Arani. This historical contribution by Arani silk weavers to our motherland needs to be brought to limelight. As we are stepping into our 67th Independence Day, this is a simple and strong request, through this House, to the hon. Minister to fulfil this demand at the earliest.
