(1)It shall be the general duty of the Board to manage the museum efficiently and to plan, promote, organise and implement programmes for the development of the museum and to perform such other functions as the Central Government may, from time to time, assign to the Board.(2)In particular, and without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing provision, the Board may take such steps as it thinks fit--(a)for providing for instruction and research in matters relating to museums and libraries and for the advancement of learning and dissemination of knowledge in such matters; and(b)to do all such other things as may be necessary for the discharge of its functions under this Act.
