Section 46(3)(a) in The Dock Workers (Safety, Health And Welfare) Regulations, 1990

(a)Chains shall be withdrawn from use when stretched and increased in length exceeds five per cent or when a link of the chain is deformed or otherwise damaged or raised scarfs of defective welds appears.
