Background
1. The Applicant filed an RTI application dt.26.11.08 with the CPIO, DoP, Deoria.
He requested for information against 3 points including the total number of applications received against the advertisement dated 7.3.08 with reference to the Superintendent of Post Office, Deoria file No.A-926/ED. He also wanted information regarding the process of selection and the basis on which the orders were given by the Superintendent, along with the joining date of the selected candidate. The CPIO replied on 31.12.08 stating that the information request is not in public interest and cannot be furnished u/s 8(1)(j). Not satisfied with the reply, the Applicant filed an appeal dt.12.1.09 with the Appellate Authority reiterating his request for the information. On not receiving any reply, he filed a second appeal dt.23.3.09 before the CIC stating that he was a candidate for appointment for the post of GDS and had applied against the advertisement notifying the vacancies. He requested for a comparative chart of applications received for appointment, the process of selection and copy of appointment letter.
2. The Bench of Mrs. Annapurna Dixit, Information Commissioner, scheduled the hearing for May 19, 2009.
3. Mr. B. B. Ram, ASPO(HQ) represented the Public Authority.
4. The Applicant was not present during the hearing.
Decision
5. The Respondent submitted that on 13.5.09 complete information was provided to the Appellant. He also presented before the Commission, the reply furnished by him. Since the required information has been provided, the appeal is accordingly disposed off.
