Section 249(1) in The Maharashtra Municipal Councils, Nagar Panchayats And Industrial Townships Act, 1965
(1)Whenever the Council considers the interior of a building is so over-crowded as to be or to be likely to become dangerous or prejudicial to the health of the inhabitants of that or of any neighbouring building, the Council may cause proceedings to be taken before an Executive Magistrate for the purposes of obtaining an order to prevent such overcrowding.
