6. Qualifications for membership of a Zilla Parishad or the Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad.
- A person shall be qualified to be chosen to fill up a seat in a Zilla Parishad or the Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad, if -(a)such person is a citizen of India and his name is included in the electoral roll prepared in accordance with such rules made by the State Government in this behalf and in force on such date as the State Election Commissioner may declare for purposes of an election pertaining to any Block within the District and is not less than twenty-one years of age on the date fixed for scrutiny of the nomination papers of an election;(b)such person is a member of any of the scheduled castes and is an elector in relation to that Zilla Parishad or the Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad in the case of a seat reserved for the Scheduled Castes;(c)such person is a member of any of the scheduled tribes and is an elector in relation to that Zilla Parishad or the Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad in the case of a seat reserved for the Scheduled Tribes;(d)such person is a woman and is an elector in relation to that Zilla Parishad or the Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad in the case of a seat reserved for Women;(e)such person is an elector in relation to that Zilla Parishad or the Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad in the case of any other seat.
