Section 187 in The Bombay Provincial Municipal Corporations Act, 1949
187. Water closets, etc. not to be injured or improperly fouled. - (1) No person shall injure or foul any water-closet, privy, urinal or bathing or washing place or any fittings or appliances in connection therewith which have been provided for the use in common of the inhabitants of one or more buildings.
(2)If any such water-closet, privy, urinal or bathing or washing place or any fitting or appliance in connection therewith or the approaches thereto or the walls, floors, or seats or anything used in connection therewith are in such a state as to be a nuisance or source of annoyance to any inhabitant of the said building or buildings or to any inhabitant of the locality or passer-by for want of proper cleaning thereof, such of the persons having the use thereof as may be in default or, in the absence of evidence as to which of the persons having the use thereof in common is in default, every such person shall be deemed to have contravened the provisions of this section.(3)The provisions of this section shall not exempt the Owner of the building or buildings from any penalty to which he may otherwise have rendered himself liable.
