Section 424(1) in The Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act, 1888
(1)The Commissioner or any police officer empowered by him in this behalf may, on a certificate signed by the executive health officer or by any duly qualified medical practitioner, direct or caused the removal of any person who is, in the opinion of such executive health officer or other medical practitioner, without proper lodging or accommodation or who is lodged in a building occupied by more than one family, and who is suffering from a dangerous disease, to any hospital or place at which patients suffering from the said disease are received for medical treatment.
