SHRI PRALHAD JOSHI (DHARWAD): Madam Speaker, I would like to thank you for giving me this opportunity. … (Interruptions) Shri Kharge ji does not want that a very important incident which has happened in Karnataka to be raised here and justice should be given. … (Interruptions) That is why, he is doing like this. … (Interruptions) Madam, the body of a young IAS officer, Shri D.K. Ravi, who was dynamic, who was honest and who belonged to 2009 batch was found dead in mysterious condition in his residence. He was the Additional Commissioner, Enforcement of Commercial Tax, Government of Karnataka. Before that, he was D.C., Kolar, and he had acted very sternly against anti social elements, especially against land grabbers and sand mining mafias in Kolar District. He did such a wonderful job there. After that, he had initiated relentless drive for clearing encroachment of government land. When he found certain lacunae in the system and when he wanted to bring the land mafias to be booked, he asked the State Government to give more powers to handle them and also support him. Then, he was posted as the Additional Commissioner, Commercial Tax. In that post also, he continued his honesty and … (Interruptions) Madam, when he became the Additional Commissioner, Enforcement of Commercial Tax, he started raiding many commercial establishments who were evading tax, which includes the Home Minister’s establishment also. The Home Minister’s farm was also raided. … (Interruptions) Then, in mysterious circumstances, he was found dead. Now, it is being projected that he has committed suicide. … (Interruptions) This is the failure of the Karnataka Government and also the Chief Minister of Karnataka.
