10. Enquiry into claims and amount of compensation.-
The Collector shall proceed to enquire into any such claim, and to determine the amount of compensation, if any, which should be given to the claimant; andsections 9 to 12 (inclusive), 14 and 15, 18 to 23 (inclusive), 26 to 40 (inclusive), 51, 57, 58 and 59 of the 2Land Acquisition Act, 1870 (10 of 1870), shall apply to such enquiries:Provided that, instead of the last clause of the said section 26, the following shall be read:- "The provisions of this section and of section 8 ofthe Northern India Canal and Drainage Act, 1873 ( 8 of 1873), shall be read to every assessor in a language which he understands, before he giveshis opinion as to the amount of compensation to be awarded."
