Section 30 in Manipur (Village Authorities in Hill Areas) Act, 1956
30. Jurisdiction of village courts in civil cases.
- Notwithstanding anything contained in the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 (5 of 1908), or in any other law for the time being in force, but subject to the provisions of section 31 and section 32, the village court and the ordinary civil court, within the local limits of whose jurisdiction the village is situated, shall have concurrent jurisdiction to try the following classes of suits, namely:-(a)suits for money due on contracts;(b)suits for the recovery of movable property or the value of such property;(c)suits for compensation for wrongfully taking or injuring movable property; and(d)suits for damages by cattle trespass;when the value of the suit does not exceed five hundred rupees.
