Section 30 in Tamil Nadu Forest Act, 1882

30. In case of refusal by owner, Government may take such lands on lease or acquire them.

- Whenever tire owner of such forest or land may decline to comply with the regulations or directions contained in the said notification, it shall be incumbent upon the Government, if they resolve to assume control of the said forest or land, to take the said forest or land, or so much of it as they may see fit, on lease from the owner for such term as they may deem it necessary to retain the same under control, and the owner shall be bound either to conclude such lease with the Government or to require that such forest or land shall be acquired for public purposes, and in the latter event, the Government shall acquire such forests or land accordingly. If such lease is agreed upon, the amount of annual rent to be reserved, and all other questions arising between the owner or persons claiming to be owners and the Government shall, in case of dispute, be determined in accordance, so far as may be, with the provisions of the [Land Acquisition Act, 1870 (Central Act X of 1870)] [See now the Land Acquisition Act, 1894 (Central Act 1 of 1894).].
