CORAM: HON'BLE MR. JUSTICE DHIRAJ SINGH THAKUR, JUDGE

                                                  ORDER

Petitioners who were working in Transport Workshop in the Police Department were conferred with the skilled status according to the government order no. Home-469 (P) of 2013 dated 24.10.2013. Names of the petitioners figure at serial numbers 37, 40, 51 and 55 in the said order. Pursuant to certain directions issued in the earlier round of litigation, the government passed an order dated 2.2.2016 bearing No. 56-Home of 2016 wherein a stand was taken that once the confirmation of skilled/semi-skilled status is granted in favour of the workers by the competent authority, the posts held by them shall be deemed to have been upgraded/revised to the pay scale as applicable to such class of workers in terms of schedule C of J&K Civil Service (revised pay rules 1973) and thus upgradation/creation of posts afresh in skilled/semi-skilled pay scales was not required.

Grievance of the petitioners is that even though they have been granted the status of skilled workers, they have not been given the benefit of the upgraded scales and the matter is pending with respondent No. 3.

Considering the stand earlier taken by the government vide order dated 02.02.2016, a copy whereof is on record, the respondents are directed to ensure an early decision in regard to payment of benefits. Appropriate orders be passed upon consideration within a period of two months.

Disposed of.
