252. Erection of Gauge.
- A masonry or concrete foundation for the gauge should be provided, the best form being a cube of 2 feet sides sunk into the ground so that its top is just above the general level of the ground. Into this foundation the base of the gauge is firmly cemented, so that the top of the complete gauge is exactly one foot above the ground.
