Section 241(1) in The Calcutta Municipal Corporation Act, 1980
(1)The Mayor-in-Council may, at any time, on receiving an application from the Commissioners of a municipality or from the Cantonment Board of a cantonment or from any other authority in respect of any other area adjacent to Calcutta which may be included in Calcutta by the State Government by notification, direct that such quantity of wholesome water per diem as may be determined by it shall be delivered into such reservoirs or pipes of such municipality or cantonment or area, as the case may be, as may be specified in such application.
